About me

My background is in the corporate world of learning and development coupled with a life-long interest in health, fitness and wellness, and this combination, I believe makes me uniquely placed to help you.

I found my love of health and fitness as a teenager regularly going to the gym and many classes. This continued for my University years where looking back I was quite obsessive with my training and nutrition and I would say these were definitely my ‘fit years’.

However as soon as I left University and entered the sedentary world of work I felt and experienced the struggles; trying to find the time and motivation after a day at work and seeing increases in my weight due to sitting for longer hours.

Through the years I have dipped in and out of my fitness regime and fully understand the reality and demands of the corporate world. I have also experienced the aches and pains which I saw when I started working from home and the realisation how sedentary I had become! It was at this point I turned to Pilates and my journey began. I qualified with a YMCA Level 3 Diploma in Teaching Pilates in 2018 and started teaching face to face classes in a variety of settings.  Since then I've worked in gyms and at various Pilates studios, but I've realised that my real passion is my own classes and activities in the community.

Pilates is one part of my business, the other is Wellness which encompasses other tools and modalities that have also helped me; these include reflexology, mindfulness and how to develop a positive mindset and habits.  And that is what brings me here - to share my inspiration, knowledge and motivation about what has helped me, to help you!

So my purpose is to provide you with the tools to help you feel happier and move more!

My Why.......

Read about how Pilates helped me and my inspiration to share the benefits of Pilates with you.

When I was studying I developed my interest in health and fitness and would regularly have been to the gym or to a class before my house mates had even got up!  At this time, I regularly went to the gym, classes and Pilates and maintained my fitness, until I was in my mid-20s.

However, life changes and you have different priorities and I stopped exercising and my fitness levels decreased.   Then around nine years ago, when my job meant that I was working from home and travelling a lot, I really saw the change in how I was feeling.  I had constant niggling pains and had regular visits to the physio for nagging shoulder pain.  Not due to any injury but just due to posture and general wear and tear. After this going on for over a year it made me think!  I had become so sedentary – sitting at a computer, sitting on a train or a plane and hardly walking anywhere apart from dog walking at the weekends.  I also found myself struggling with basic household tasks. Vacuuming was the worst!  I only had to vacuum the house and my shoulder area would be in agony.  I used to think what is happening to me, considering I was not yet 40!!

So, I decided that I should try and do something about it and get fit again.  I learnt very quickly after completing an exercise video and getting a swollen knee that I could not do the things I used to do!  I would have to take it slow and build myself up.  It was then that I turned back to Pilates, as I had regularly done Pilates all those years ago.  I started going to two classes a week and was cautious at first, listening to my body what I could and couldn’t do and building up.

After attending regular classes for some time I could definitely feel the benefits.  No pain in my shoulder area and overall less niggling pains, vacuuming was no problem and less visits to the physio.  I felt so much better in myself and started other exercise.  I could also see the benefits of Pilates when fell walking – another of my hobbies.  Previously I had always gone over on my ankles and used to have bad knee pain when coming down hill. Now this was much improved and enabled me to climb mountains in the Lake District with more ease.

All these reasons are why I decided in 2018 that I would like to train to become a Pilates teacher, so I could share the benefits of Pilates with others.  And the rest they say is history.
